Here are some bits for information and helpful tips as they relate to the individual departments at the Dragon*Con Art Show.

Art Gallery

Both originals and prints may go in the Art Gallery, if the artist makes the print unique in some way (e.g., limited run, signed, unique frame, etc.).

All artwork information must be accurately labeled on the art piece.

A piece in the Art Gallery may be labeled "Not For Sale", if you do not wish to sell the piece during the show.

We will charge a 10% sales commission on all pieces sold in the Art Gallery. Allow for this when calculating your Minimum Bid, Quick Sale, and After-Auction Prices.

Minimum Bid

- The least amount you will accept for the sale of your art.

Quick Sale Price

- This price is only valid if there are no bids on the item.

- This should be a price higher than the minimum bid that will enable the piece to be sold without going to auction.

- If you wish your piece to be available only by bidding, you may specify that the piece not be available for Quick Sale by writing "n/a" in the "Quick Sale" field.

- If a customer wishes to purchase the piece for the listed Quick Sale amount, they will be permitted to remove the item from the Art Gallery and pay for it immediately. It is not required that they leave the piece on display for the duration of the show.

After-Auction Price

- If there are no bids on the piece after the silent auction ends at 6 pm on Sunday, buyers may purchase the piece at the after-auction price.

- If the after-auction price is too low, it will reduce the chances of the piece going to auction.

- If you do not wish a piece without bids to be available after the silent auction, specify "n/a" in the "After Action" field.

Auction

All pieces that receive 5 bids in the silent auction before the Sunday close of bidding at 6 pm will go to the voice auction.

Charity pieces may go directly to the voice auction without participating in the silent auction.

Doll Department

You may enter as many dolls as you like while space is available.

- There is a $10 per doll entry fee.

There will be tables to place the dolls on, but you must supply your own display stands.

The Doll Department is a part of the Art Gallery so we will charge a 10% sales commission on all pieces sold in the Doll Department.

Print Shop

An artist may enter a maximum of 15 different prints and 150 different items into the Print Shop.

- This means an artist may bring 150 copies of 1 print or 10 copies each of 15 prints, as long as they exceed neither the 15 print nor 150 item limits.

- Agents / Galleries representing a number of artists may bring the maximum quantities PER ARTIST they represent.

We encourage shrink-wrapping or bagging for all Print Shop items to protect against damage from handling.

Both matted and non-matted copies are allowed in the Print Shop, however, most of the pieces in the Print Shop will be standing up on display racks.

- These display racks do not have clips or bars to hold the art upright, so if you choose not to matte your items, it is recommended that you put a piece of cardboard behind each of the items you display, to prevent them from "slouching" or falling off the display racks.

- Remember: the better the presentation, the greater chance it will sell.

The Print Shop will charge a 15% commission on all pieces sold in the Print Shop. Allow for this when you are calculating your prices.

An Art Show volunteer will be present in the Print Shop during set up. S/he will direct you to where you may display your art and will then check you in.

- Be advised, if the Print Shop starts getting full, the volunteer may be required to slightly overlap existing pieces to make room for additional artists. In this event, care will be taken to ensure that the pieces being overlapped are not covered to the point where customers cannot see the art.

Small Items Display

- Smaller items in the Print Shop, such as bookmarks and buttons, will be moved to behind the cashier's desk for added theft security.

- One copy of the item will be put on display in the Print Shop and secured so that it cannot be easily stolen.

- A clear note will be left with the sample telling customers to ask at the cashier's desk for the item.

- Any artist wishing that their smaller items NOT be included in the small item display must indicate so on their control sheet but also acknowledges that small items are easy to steal and Dragon*Con is not responsible for theft of any items.

Artists' Bazaar

The Artists' Bazaar is the Art Show marketplace. Qualifying artists may purchase a table and then sell their artwork at the show.

Tables in the Artists' Bazaar are available to any artist that has passed jury and has purchased space in the Art Gallery or Print Shop departments.

An Artist Bazaar table is 6’ in length x 30" wide.

There is a limit of 1 table per Artist.

A bazaar table must be staffed by the artist or designated alternates.

- The Art Show will not supply staff to run a bazaar table.

A bazaar table does not include membership to the convention.

- The artist and anyone working at their table must purchase separate Dragon*Con memberships.

- Once the doors open on Friday at 1pm, admission to the Art Show will be restricted to those with Dragon*Con membership badges.

Artists are permitted to work on art at their bazaar tables, as long as the set-up for such work does not exceed the space allotted to the artist.

Use of materials considered hazardous or flammable or that must be used in a ventilated environment is not permitted.

All items for sale on these tables must be items made by the Artist or from the Artist's designs.

Bazaar table sales must issue receipts with each piece of art that is sold.

- Security will be checking receipts at the exits. A valid receipt is required for all art leaving the art show.

Bazaar table space will NOT be sold at the Art Show.

Items sold at the bazaar tables must adhere to subject matter guidelines.
